Upperi's Five Flavours — How We Built the Range

Five SKUs. Two chip bases. A price point of ₹69 for 70g across the board. Here's how we got there.

Start with what you know

The Classic Salted was never in question. If you're making original banana chips, you start with the pure version, no seasoning, no noise, just the chip itself. Three ingredients: Authentic Nendran Banana, Rice Bran Oil, Iodised Salt. If the crunch isn't right here, no amount of masala fixes it.

Push the banana chips in two directions

Masala Twist goes in the direction of Indian spice — bold, familiar, pan-Indian in its profile. Barbeque goes somewhere more unexpected. Smoky, layered, with a depth that most people don't associate with a banana chip. The contrast is exactly what makes it worth reaching for.

The tapioca range

Tapioca chips are the main part of Kerala snack culture. Lighter than banana chips, crispier in texture, built for more aggressive flavours. Peri Peri brings heat with depth. Sweet & Spicy brings the balance the tapioca chip was made for. These two SKUs are also our lowest-fat options — 16.8g and 13.2g total fat per 100g respectively.

Why five? Why not more?

Five is enough to cover the range without spreading the quality thin. Each SKU has a reason to exist. None of them is filler. We'll grow the range but by adding something that genuinely belongs, not for the sake of variety.

The price

Our pricing is simple: ₹69 for 70g, across all five SKUs. One price point. No premium SKU, no value SKU. The logic is simple: every Upperi pack is made to the same standard, so every Upperi pack costs the same.
